Seating inside the salon

About the studio

Lumière started in a two-chair room above a florist. Nine years later it is still deliberately small — because that is the only way we know how to keep the work this careful.

The salon workspace, with a station set up for a client
Our story

Founded on one stubborn idea

Elena Marchetti opened Lumière in 2016 after fifteen years working in high-volume salons where a full set was expected in fifty minutes. She wanted the opposite: fewer clients, more time, and a standard of hygiene she would be happy for her own family to sit through.

That meant real investment before a single client walked in — a medical-grade autoclave, source-capture ventilation at every station, and a training programme every technician completes before touching a client's hands.

It also meant saying no. To upsells nobody needs, to services a damaged nail cannot take, and to growing past four chairs.

What we stand on

Four non-negotiables

Sterile, always

Autoclaved metal tools in sealed pouches, single-use everything else, and surfaces disinfected between every client.

If your nails need a break, we will tell you — even when it costs us the booking.

Fair pay

Our technicians are salaried with benefits, not commission-chasing. It shows in the work.

Hygiene

What happens between clients

It takes twelve minutes, and it is the reason our appointment slots have gaps in them.

Scrubbed, ultrasonically cleaned, then autoclaved at 134°C in sealed pouches with a colour-change indicator. The pouch is opened at your station, not before.

Single-use. They go in the bin in front of you, or home with you if you would rather keep them.

Pipe-free bowls with disposable liners, disinfected with a hospital-grade solution at full contact time between clients.

Source-capture extraction at each desk plus a HEPA unit in the room. Desks, lamps and armrests wiped down every single turnover.

Come see for yourself
